As the old saying goes, "Birds of a feather flock together." The saying highlights that people of similar character, background, or taste tend to congregate or associate with one another. For example, people tend to be the average of the five people they spend the most time with. 

The power of association is a real thing and can either build us up, drag us down, or simply keep us stagnant in life. Hence, who we choose to associate with is an incredibly important decision. 

In order to really embrace the true nature of association power, we need to recognize that we are in control of the decision and responsible for making the choice. For example, we cannot control the actions of a friend, but we can control who we choose to call "friend." It simply comes down to the choice of who we choose to spend our time with. If we choose people who are succeeding, we will be influenced by success. If we choose people who are continuously complaining, we will sense a dark cloud developing over us. Like it or not, the people we spend the most time with have a direct impact on us and influence our thinking and habits.
