"It Was A Very Good Year" — An Adaptation of a Classic
When I was seventeen
It was a very good year.
It was a very good year for a teenage kid
On warm spring nights
Playing soccer under lights
On AstroTurf so green
When I was seventeen.
When I was twenty-one
It was a very good year.
It was a very good year for a college kid
At a computer he'd stare
No longer in despair
From a life come undone
Before I was twenty-one.
When I was thirty-five
It was a very good year.
It was a very good year for entrepreneurship
Providing independent means
With BILLY Footwear destinies
Success began to thrive
When I was thirty-five.
Now there is much to report
Adding value is sincere.
I think of the time when wrought with remorse
And steered off course
But rose from the grave
With vision now clear
It's been a mess of good years.
It was a very good year.
It was a very good year for a teenage kid
On warm spring nights
Playing soccer under lights
On AstroTurf so green
When I was seventeen.
When I was twenty-one
It was a very good year.
It was a very good year for a college kid
At a computer he'd stare
No longer in despair
From a life come undone
Before I was twenty-one.
When I was thirty-five
It was a very good year.
It was a very good year for entrepreneurship
Providing independent means
With BILLY Footwear destinies
Success began to thrive
When I was thirty-five.
Now there is much to report
Adding value is sincere.
I think of the time when wrought with remorse
And steered off course
But rose from the grave
With vision now clear
It's been a mess of good years.
And now with the melody of Auld Lang Syne playing in my head, we at BILLY Footwear wish all of our amazing supporters a very Happy New Year!
